The Winner and an Owl

I really had fun with my first contest. It was interesting to see what you picked verses what I would have picked. It also tends to bring a lot of visitors to your site when you announce "Contest!" :-)

So Dan and Mandy won with 7 votes. I have to admit that was defintely one of my top 3 favorites. Ben and Bette, #3, and Daniel and Jamie, #1, tied for 2nd place.

Thanks so much for voting and visiting my blog! That was fun and makes me want to do more contests.

And now for my owl...

This owl has been in my mom's house for some time now and I've always admired it. It's tiny, but very dense, and because I am a person who likes to feel things and see how they hold (Amy, you know what I mean), I ALWAYS have to pick it up and hold it transfering it from hand to hand.

My sweet mama gave me this owl for Valentines Day and I LOVE it. Thanks Mah.

Love Is...

    Addendum!

Okay, so this post has been up for 30 minutes and I think I've decided to make this a contest! Please leave a comment letting me know which photo is your favorite. The winning couple will receive a free 8x10 of their romantic photo! Contest ends at midnight tonight, February 14, 2010! WEE! My first contest!

    ONE ENTRY PER PERSON PLEASE!
I hope everyone is having a lovely Valentines Day. To celebrate this day of love, I thought I'd post my favorite pictures of love.

I'm also posting The Message version of 1 Corinthians 13. The Message has been a great version for me - it makes the Bible seem new and fresh.

1 Corinthians 13

"If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.

If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing.

#2

If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.

#4

Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.

#5

Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"

#6

Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,

#7

Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

#8

Love never dies.

#9

Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.

#10

When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.

#11

We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!

#12

But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love."
